BirchBox (April 2012)

Here is my April Birchbox.  I believe they were going for the earthy vibe =).  There are hits and misses with the products for me in this box.

Read on for my thoughts on the products I received in my box.

(Note the products in the box were sample size except for the eye rock)

As you guys know from my previous Birchbox post.. It comes with your regular mail in a small pink box.. and within the pink box is another brown box with their signature post card.

J.R. Watkins Hand and Cuticle Salve- | $7.99 value
"Slather on this creamy balm pre-manicure.  It's full of natural moisturizers to keep your hands and cuticles super soft"

The scent is very fresh.. aloe and green tea together will give you that fresh smell =).. It is a balm for your hands and cuticles.  I have used it a few times for my cuticles and I have to say that I like it so far.   It works better is you use it right after getting out of the shower or washing your hands.

Alima Pure Organic Nourishing Lipbalm in Rhubarb | $7 value
"Both wholesome and chic, this tinted balm is made with pure plant butters and delivers a natural flush of color"

It has a peppermint scent to it.  For some reason any lip products mint scented makes my stomach and head hurt.  It is a tinted lipbalm.. but it gives a very natural tint.  It certainly does moisturize my lips.. the only thing I don't like about any tinted lip balms is the texture.  I don't know if you guys notice but they have a grainy type feel to them.

Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream- | $40 value
"Protect your skin from dryness with this botanical cream, which is infused with rosehip and avocado oils"

I really wanted to like this... I love the moisture and hydration it gives my skin.. but i really cannot stand the scent.  It's a really strong floral scent, that is better left for a perfume bottle.  The scent will fade eventually.. the more you rub it in the less it will smell.. but I personally don't like the smell.  They should make a non-scented one.. I would probably like that one a lot.

Enough of me complaining about the smell lol.. It is very creamy.. the avocado is what gives the soft moisturizing affect.  I was really surprised at how soft it made my hands feel.  I can imagine that this product will do wonders for really dry skin.  I say imagine because as stated above I really dislike the scent so I will not be using it.

Update: I just put it on a few minutes ago to remind me of the moisture.. and I think I am getting bumps and an allergic reaction to the cream.

Wonderstruck Taylor Swift- | $49-59.50 value
"The pop-country songstress' scent is as catchy as her lyrics.  We think it's worthy of standing gig on our vanity"

I love love love this!! It smells so good.. but i have only smelled and wore it once.  Mainly because its not a spray on sample.  The lid comes off and you put it on with your fingers.  Which is what I dislike about the sample.  Let's just say the product itself smells so good that I am thinking about buying the full bottle.  Does anyone know about the lasting power of this?

Dropps Laundry Detergent- pack of 20 | $6
"Lighten your laundry day load with these single-use, eco friendly detergent packs.  We love their convenience factor and adorable design."

I thought this was a waste to put in the box.. they should have put something else but hey that's my opinion. I love this kind of detergent.. So easy to use.. just a single toss into the washing machine and they work great.

I use tide pods.. so I wanted to show you guys how they look side to side.  You can see that the tide pods are bigger in size and thickness.  After using the dropps I have to say that I still like to use the tide pods.

The products for April's box were not bad for $10.  I am not complaining about this bag either.  I was/am able to use more than 3 of the products.. So I am happy.  Also this month I was introduced to products that i have never even heard of.. which is always a good thing.. and one of the reasons why I subscribe to these beauty boxes.
